Welcome to the first official blog post from What We Are Watching – the home of two people (hi, that’s us!) who consume screen content like it’s a competitive sport. Each week, we’re diving into what’s been playing on our screens, what we loved (or didn’t), and what’s got us hooked for the next binge session.
This Week’s Lineup:
- 🎬 Another Simple Favor (2025)
- 📺 You – Season 1 (Episodes 1–4)
- 🔮 Mayfair Witches – Season 2 (complete)
- 👩🏫 The English Teacher – Season 1 (Episodes 1–7)
- 🐓 Krapopolis – Episodes 1–18
- 🧽 The Cleaner – Season 3 (midway)
- 💍 George and Mandy’s First Marriage – up to Episode 14 (on pause until full season drops)
Spotlight Review: Another Simple Favor (2024)
We were curious—and admittedly cautious—going into Another Simple Favor, the sequel to 2018’s delightfully twisted A Simple Favor. With Paul Feig back at the helm, and Blake Lively and Anna Kendrick reprising their roles, expectations were high. This Amazon Prime release picks up in the glamorous world of Emily Nelson’s life, this time set in the chaotic beauty of Capri, Italy.
Emily’s wedding to an Italian billionaire becomes the backdrop for a new mystery, and once again, Stephanie is roped into a whirlwind of secrets, deaths, and designer dresses. What we loved? The camp. The fashion. The unapologetically extra vibes. Lively is still magnetic, Kendrick plays anxiety like a concert violinist, and the whole film is self-aware in the best way.
While not quite as sharp as the original, it’s still a fun, stylish sequel worth streaming. Definitely one for fans of black comedy and aesthetic-driven mystery.
Rating: 7.5/10 — Less surprising, more sipping prosecco with murder vibes.
Slow Burn Obsession: You (Season 1, Episodes 1–4)
We’re easing into You (finally!) and four episodes deep, we’re fully creeped out by how charming Penn Badgley can make a psychopath seem. Joe Goldberg’s descent into stalker-ville is terrifying in its mundanity—and yet weirdly compelling.
We’re pacing ourselves at two episodes per night, mostly to preserve our sanity, but also because this show deserves to breathe. What’s already struck us is how timelessly relevant the social commentary is, especially when it comes to online privacy (or lack thereof) and romanticized obsession.
Expect a full-season breakdown in the coming weeks.
Other Shows on the Roster
- Mayfair Witches – We finished Season 2, and while it was full of lush visuals and intriguing lore, it didn’t completely stick the landing. Still, a decent ride for Anne Rice fans.
- The English Teacher – We’re 7 episodes into Season 1 and pleasantly surprised by how clever and layered this show is. Great performances, witty dialogue, and just enough bite.
- Krapopolis – 18 episodes in, and this animated series has become a background favorite. Not groundbreaking, but it delivers enough chuckles to keep us pressing “Next.”
- The Cleaner – Midway through Season 3 and… it’s a bit of a slog. The first two seasons had more punch. Still holding out hope for a twist or standout episode to reinvigorate things.
- George and Mandy’s First Marriage – We’re 14 episodes deep, but paused to wait until the full season drops. It’s too emotionally rich to be drip-fed.
What’s Next?
Our plan is to stick to watching two episodes of You each night until we complete Season 1. After that, we may dive into Season 2 or switch to something totally different—maybe some true crime or classic horror?
We’re also keeping an eye out for new releases like Smoke (with Taron Egerton) and Four Seasons (Steve Carell), both of which are on our Trakt watchlist.
